Is the stock market open or closed?

As you’re out shopping for a new mattress or taking advantage of other Presidents’ Day sales you won’t have to worry about how your investments are doing. That’s because the U.S. stock and bond markets will be closed on Monday in observance of the national holiday. 

Both markets will close on Friday at their usual times, 4 p.m. ET for the stock market and 5 p.m. ET for the bond market.

On Tuesday following the holiday, they’ll open at their usual times, 9:30 a.m. EST for the stock market and 8 a.m. EST for the bond market. 

Banks will also be closed on Monday and there will be no mail delivery.

The stock market will be closed for Presidents' Day on Monday.

Stocks have had a lot of ups and downs this week after new inflation data solidified the likelihood that the Federal Reserve will continue to hike rates by at least 25 basis points at its next two meetings. The latest read on inflation from the consumer price index found that prices in January were 6.4% higher than a year earlier and up 0.5% from December to January.
