The Deion Sanders era is coming to an end at Jackson State on Saturday after the Tigers’ Celebration Bowl duel against North Carolina Central on Saturday.
Sanders heads to the University of Colorado after the game after being hired as the Buffaloes’ new coach Dec. 3. Sanders chose to stay and coach Jackson State’s final game of the season before heading to Boulder.
Sanders led the Tigers to a 27-5 record during his three seasons, and that includes a 12-0 mark this year.
He addressed his players for a final time before they took the field in Atlanta and was quite emotional.
Sanders introduced his son, Jackson State starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders, as “our quarterback” during his introductory news conference at Colorado. Other JSU players, such as former five-star recruit Travis Hunter, could be following the Sanders family to Colorado.

Sanders, 55, gives Colorado a flamboyant national celebrity who has shown he can do what the program needs — recruit top players from across the country, much like former Colorado coach Bill McCartney did in the late 1980s and 1990s, when the Buffaloes were a national powerhouse.
