It’s not enough to be pitch-perfect during the knockout rounds on “The Voice.” You have to be larger than life.
Team John singers Ian Harrison, Morgan Taylor and Omar Jose Cardona delivered showstopping performances during the second round Tuesday night, with the hope of sticking around on coach John Legend’s team.
Harrison performed an anthemic cover of “Cough Syrup” by Young the Giant, while Taylor and Cardona offered exhilarating renditions of James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good)” and “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons, respectively.
Coach Camila Cabello was spellbound by Cardona’s commanding stage presence.
“You have this giant dragon in you, but you know how to tame it,” Cabello said. “You just make it look so fun and exciting.”
Cardona’s powerhouse charisma also won over Legend, who chose the 33-year-old singer as the knockout’s winner.
“It’s become clear that Omar is one of the best singers we’ve seen since I’ve been on the show,” Legend said. “He puts so much power and soul into every performance, and then that voice is just stunning.”
Here’s what else went down during Tuesday’s episode.

Camila Cabello steals Team Blake singer – but which one?
Bryce Leatherwood, Jay Allen and Kate Kalvach of Team Blake aimed straight for the heart with their passionate performances.
Leatherwood charmed the coaches with his sweet cover of “Colder Weather” by Zac Brown Band. Allen and Kalvach were hot on his heels with heartwarming performances of “Prayed for You” by Matt Stell and Justin Bieber’s “Anyone.”
Leatherwood’s pleasant tone and ease onstage did the trick for Legend, who was willing to overlook the technical errors in his performance.
“Your voice is warm and inviting,” Legend said. “I did hear some pitchiness, but it didn’t really distract me a lot because you came out with that quiet sense of assuredness that I like to see in an artist.”
Coach Blake Shelton also hopped on the Leatherwood bandwagon, choosing the 22-year-old singer as the knockout’s winner.
But Leatherwood’s victory opened a window of opportunity for Kalvach. Shortly after Shelton announced his decision, Legend and Cabello hit their “steal” buttons for a chance to bring the Oklahoma vocalist onto their team.
“Will you marry me?” Cabello told Kalvach. “I will give you everything Kate: I love you. Your voice brings me to tears.”
While Kalvach and Cabello won’t be walking down the aisle any time soon, Kalvach did accept Cabello’s proposal to be her new coach.
“There’s an emotional quality in her voice,” Cabello said of Kalvach. “I’ve been courting her since the beginning of the show, and she is an amazing addition to Team Camila. I’m very excited to work with her.”
