Budweiser can usually be counted on for a good showing in the Super Bowl advertising wars. This year, the King of Beers has another timely delivery: four new Clydesdales.
Four Clydesdale foals – their names are Barron, Sergeant, Stinger and Razor – were born recently on the horses’ breeding and training facility at Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville, Missouri, about 150 miles east of St. Louis.
The quartet won’t appear in an advertisement this year, but they will be active on Super Bowl Sunday.
Budweiser is having a special Football and Foals watch party that day at the foals’ home. Guests can watch the game on four big screens and get photos with the new arrivals and other Clydesdales. The $100 tickets also include appetizers, dinner, two 16-ounce beers; get tickets on the Warm Springs Ranch website.

What about Budweiser’s Super Bowl ad?
Historically, Budweiser is known as a King of Super Bowl ads with lots of classic commercials including the Budweiser frogs (1995), the football playing Clydesdales in 2003, and horse and trainer reunited in 2013.
However, Budweiser’s strategy is a bit different this year as it’s the first timein three decades that Anheuser-Busch isn’t the exclusive Super Bowl beer advertiser. So Molson Coors and other beer makers including Heineken are expected to run national ads.

Budweiser will debut a new commercial based on the Six Degrees of Separation from Kevin Bacon theme, with the actor providing narration as a six-pack connects a wide variety of beer drinkers.
But that ad will play only in select regional markets, Anheuser-Busch told USA TODAY. The company will have national ads for Bud Light, Michelob Ultra and Busch beers.
How big are Clydesdales when they are born?
At birth, Clydesdale foals are about three feet tall, weighing about 150 pounds and they can walk within hours of birth. An adult Clydesdales is about six feettall and weighs about 2,000 pounds.
The harness and collar they wear weighs about 130 pounds and the wagon and horses collectively weigh about 12 tons. That includes a 100 pounds or more for one or more Dalmatians, which you would likely see sitting next to the driver.
