A 19-YEAR-OLD has been charged in connection with the death of Stephen ‘Cookie’ Cook.
Brian Jewell, of Exeter, has been charged with murder following the death of the heroic 45-year-old.

He is due to appear before Exeter Magistrate’s Court today, January 31.
A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “A man has been charges in connection with the death of Stephen Cook, 45, from Exeter, following an incident in Sidwell Street on the evening of Saturday, 28 January.”
Stephen Cook, ‘Cookie’, was a much loved dad-of-two, and a familiar face in the area due to being homeless.
He is known for once bravely saving a man from drowning in the River Exe.
Tributes have poured in since the 45-year-old’s death, teddy bears, flowers, sweets and poems have been laid outside the Beftred betting shop in Sidwell Street.
Police previously arrested a 29-year-old woman from Exeter, a 32-year-old man from Exmouth and a 19-year-old on suspicion of affray.
They have since been released on bail and will return to court on April 27.
