Police have been examining the dismembered body parts that were found split between bags.
The first body piece was found by gardeners on Monday, who discovered the victim’s pelvis in a plastic bag, according to a source close to the case.
The decapitated head was then found with the help of park staff.
However, police have now confirmed they have identified the victim.
The investigation was headed by the Paris prosecutor’s office and the criminal brigade of the Parisian judicial police.
French newspaper Le Monde reported police were able to identify the woman through fragments of her body.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said: “The body parts found in the Buttes-Chaumont park were identified thanks to her fingerprints as being those of a 46-year-old woman who was declared missing by her husband on February 6.
“The couple lived in Seine-Saint-Denis.
“The woman is married and of North African origin.
“An investigation into her disappearance had been opened.”
Detectives established the woman had been dressed in blue jeans with floral decoration at the level of the right thigh.
An autopsy has been carried out, and thousands of hours of CCTV film shot around the park are being studied for clues.
The update comes after a painstaking investigation was launched after the chilling discovery was made on Monday, February 13.
The Buttes-Chaumont park has been closed to the public since.
Investigators continue to search for more body parts.
Located in the 19th Arrondissement in Paris, the park is one of the biggest green spaces in the capital and a popular destination for families and runners.
The murder inquiry has seen a large search operation across the park, including a specialist diving team searching the lake.
