While Lionel Messi has led the way at times, Argentina have come together as a team to reach their second World Cup final in eight years.
Lionel Scaloni’s side bounced back from a shock opening defeat against Saudi Arabia at Qatar 2022 to make their way to the decider against France.
Though Messi has been their shining light, a number of Argentina players have stepped up when it mattered most.
From goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to young forward Julian Alvarez, this South American team aren’t short on talent.
In fact one of their most well known stars in Paulo Dybala has barely played in Qatar as a result of their depth.

Where is Paulo Dybala?
Dybala is expected to start on the bench for the 2022 World Cup final as Argentina take on France for the title.
The 29-year-old looms as a dangerous weapon for Argentina off the bench though should he be required later in the match.
The Roma star is yet to start a match in Qatar with Scaloni preferring the likes of Alvarez, Messi, Rodrigo De Paul and Alexis Mac Allister in the final third.
Dybala primarily plays as a second striker at club level but has been deployed in various positions across the final third for Argentina in the past.

Has Paulo Dybala played in World Cup 2022?
Dybala’s place on the bench in the final will come as no surprise considering his limited minutes in Qatar to date.
The Argentine only made his first appearance of the tournament in their semifinal win over Croatia with Dybala coming on for the final 16 minutes.
In Argentina’s five previous matches the 29-year-old was an unused sub with his last start for his country dating back to November 2021.
Dybala has previously struggled to cement himself in Argentina’s starting team with a recent injury doing his 2022 World Cup involvement no favours.

Is Paulo Dybala injured?
While Dybala is currently fit enough to play, he arrived in Qatar after only recently overcoming a hamstring injury.
The Roma attacker picked up the issue in early October after scoring a penalty and missed eight club games as a result.
At the time of the injury, coach Jose Mourinho suggested Dybala would struggle to play again in 2022.
Dybala did, however, play 21 minutes in Roma’s final match before the World Cup as he found fitness just in time.
Whether he’s fully fit though remains to be seen with his limited involvement at the tournament to date suggesting he might not be 100 per cent.
Paulo Dybala Argentina goals
Despite being a superstar at club level, Dybala has struggled to regularly step up for Argentina.
After making his senior debut in 2015, he has gone on to score just three goals across 35 appearances.
Dybala’s first Argentina goal came in a 2018 friendly win against Mexico before he bagged his second a year later in his side’s 2-1 win over Chile in the Copa America third place match.

The 29-year-old’s third and last international goal to date came in June 2022 when he rounded out a 3-0 win for Argentina in the inaugural Finalissima.
Dybala had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes before finding the back of the net in injury-time.
He’ll be hoping to have a similar impact in the 2022 World Cup final as Argentina look to dethrone reigning champions France.
