How to watch the World Cup in Australia
The 2022 World Cup has been exclusively shown on TV via SBS and streamed on SBS On Demand in Australia over the past month.
After sharing broadcast duties with Optus Sport in 2018, SBS secured the sole rights to the 2022 tournament.
That meant that every match from Qatar has been televised live and free for millions of Aussies. Games have generally been shown on SBS with SBS Viceland only showing matches when two fixtures were played at once.
The Australian broadcast rights for the 2026 World Cup remains up for grabs with a decision from FIFA expected late next year.
