Vikings’ Kirk Cousins explains origin of shirtless plane dance, celebration on ‘Manningcast’: ‘Take your shirt off!’

Someone please tell Kirk Cousins to keep his pants on.

Kirk Cousins is generally known for being one of the NFL’s most milquetoast passers, both in style and personality. That’s seemingly changed in recent years, from his bizarre touchdown celebrations — and his Griddy — to … well, whatever the hell happened on Sunday.

Cousins was spotted shirtless and covered in jewelry on the Vikings’ flight home following a 20-17 win over the Commanders in Week 9. Usually when grown men wind up topless and on the internet, beverages (and shame) are involved. Cousins, though, explained that it wasn’t the case.

The Vikings passer joined Peyton and Eli Manning during the Week 9 “Manningcast” and explained his viral topless celebration on the flight home:

Cousins’ explanation:

It really started coming back from our game against the Saints a few week ago, coming back from London. We had the eight-hour flight home, and they kind of turned first class on that flight home into a nightclub. So, before I knew it, I had Christian Darrisaw’s chain around my neck, and everybody was taking photos and posting them on social media.

Then the next away game — we beat Miami, and they were throwing even more chains at me, and it turned into a Halloween costume here in Minnesota. And then, this week, they’re like, ‘Well, how do we top it?’ I’m sitting there like, ‘I don’t really think there is a way to top it.’ And they go, ‘Take your shirt off!’

Next think you know, I got my shirt off, I got Za’Darius (Smith)’s watch on my wrist, and they’re telling me all the dance moves I need to do with my hands, so, if we keep winning these away games, I don’t know where this is gonna go, but I’m kind of nervous to where it could end up.

The viral celebration went as far to hit the ESPN airwaves on Monday night, with Adam Schefter losing his top in a bizarre segment on “Monday Night Countdown.”

Cousins and the Vikings are pantsing their opponents in 2022: The team sits at 7-1 and head to Buffalo for a true measuring-stick matchup in Week 10.

Should the Vikings pull it off, expect Cousins to pull off another article of clothing.
