The fighter known as ‘The Gypsy King’ has used his fists to embark on a meteoric rise that has made him one of the richest athletes in the world.

Now the 34-year-old is set for another massive payday in his trilogy bout with Derek Chisora at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is expected to have around 60,000 people in attendance.

Tyson Fury salary, career purses, PPV earnings

In 2021, Fury paid himself just £70,000 ($94,700) — but that falls a long way short of telling the tale of the riches he has raked in.

In the two fights before his career-defining win over Wladimir Klitschko, Fury made more than £9.9 million ($12m) in his second fight against Dereck Chisora in 2014 and topped £4.1m ($5m) against Christian Hammer in 2015, according to Sports Payouts.

Fury beat the Ukrainian for the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles, making more than £5.8m ($7m) for the sensational victory.

After taking a few years away from the ring due to drug and alcohol problems, Fury returned in June 2018 to face Sefer Seferi. In a fight he won in the fourth round, Fury pocketed an estimated £1.6m ($2m).

That same year, Fury faced off against Wilder for the WBC heavyweight title. The draw was remembered for Fury getting back up in the 12th round after a brutal knockdown blow by Wilder.

Fury made a guaranteed purse of £2.5m ($3m). With the event earning a million pay-per-view buys, Fury would earn around £8.4m ($10.25m).

Between the first and second Wilder fight, Fury fought Otto Wallin and Tom Schwartz. Against Schwartz, who Fury beat via TKO in the second round, he earned £7.4m ($9m). Fury earned £10.7m ($13m) against Wallin — not to mention 47 stitches.

The rematch between Fury and Wilder saw Fury guaranteed a purse of £4.1m ($5m). Both fighters ended up earning £20.6m ($25m) each from pay-per-view receipts.

Fury would beat Wilder via TKO when his corner threw in the towel, winning the WBC heavyweight title in the process. In the trilogy fight, Fury won via knockout and made about £8.2m-£10.7m ($10m-$13m). That total increased to about £22.3m ($27m) with pay-per-view sales.

The WBC ordered that Fury receive an 80/20 split of the purse against Dillian Whyte, totalling between £23.9m and £26.4m ($29m and $32m) for a bout he won by sixth-round knockout in front of 94,000 ticket holders at Wembley Stadium in April 2022.

Over the years, Fury has given back to the community. He donated around £10.7m ($13m) to charity following his fights against Deontay Wilder.

“I did give away my last purse but I don’t do charity work for a pat on the back,” Fury told the WBC. “I do it to help people but I do not want praise for it. I don’t want to be called a do-gooder.”
