Tom Brady slams Buccaneers’ effort during 2022 season: ‘Probably the most embarrassing part of our team’

Tom Brady thought that the Buccaneers’ final-minute comeback win over the Rams was “f—ing awesome,” but he continues to be less than enthused with a couple of elements surrounding the Buccaneers in 2022.

That would be the team’s overall effort and their inconsistent play. Brady sounded off on both in a recent episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast with Jim Gray.

“I think too much of good, bad, good, bad, good, bad, leaves you average,” Brady said. “And no one’s trying to be average. If you want to be a great team, you’ve got to be way better than average.

So correcting our mistakes, improving our effort — which probably is the most embarrassing part of our team, our effort level on game day. And that’s something we better fix.

It’s easy to understand why Brady feels this way. Despite the offense’s final-drive heroics against the Rams, it still recorded just 16 points during the contest. The team didn’t have a touchdown until Cade Otton’s 1-yard score with nine seconds left in the game.

Tampa Bay’s offensive shortcomings have played a role in its inability to string together wins. The Buccaneers have won back-to-back games just once this season; those wins occurred in Weeks 1 and 2, when they beat the Cowboys and Saints to open the season.

Since then, the Bucs have gone just 2-5 overall while averaging 17.6 points per game.

Brady has vocalized his frustrations with the Buccaneers throughout the season. He has also pointed the finger back at himself amid the offense’s discombobulation.

So, perhaps having Brady point out the team’s lacking effort will make the Bucs extra motivated to show up in Week 10. Soon enough we’ll see if they can fix their effort issue as they prepare to face the Seahawks in Germany.
