Scotland rugby fixtures 2022: Results, schedule for Autumn Internationals, Six Nations and more

Scotland’s start to 2022 showed signs of positivity for Gregor Townsend’s developing squad but the summer ended in disappointment for them.

An opening Six Nations win over old foes England galvanised Townsend’s players, as they recorded back-to-back victories over the Auld Enemy for the first time since 1984.

However, that momentum did not last for the remainder of the tournament, with just one more win before they ended the campaign with a total of 10 points.

A summer tour of South America was earmarked as a way to revive their flagging year, but Argentina rose to the challenge, with just one win in three outings for the tourists.

Their Autumn Nations Series started in better fashion, though, with a slender defeat to Australia and a win over Fiji.

What happened to Scotland in the 2022 Six Nations?

That famous win over England at Murrayfield triggered hope of an unexpected push in the Six Nations but Townsend’s side were never really in a position to challenge Ireland or France.

Bragging rights over England was the key highlight of the campaign but the gap between themselves and Andy Farrell’s Ireland and champions France was plain to see.

What happened when Scotland toured Argentina?

Scotland opted to tour Argentina as part of their summer series, with England and Ireland heading to Australia and New Zealand respectively and Wales travelling to South Africa.

With two sides viewed as evenly matched, based on RFU rankings, it was a worthwhile test for Townsend, even if results did not go their way on tour.

An opening 26-18 defeat in San Salvador de Jujuy kicked off the campaign with a negative, and despite responding with a convincing 29-6 second win, a late 34-31 loss in Santiago del Estero ended the month on a low mark.
