Richarlison bio: Quick hits on Brazil World Cup star, teams, tattoos, family and why he always looks angry

Brazil have never been short of firepower in attack and, in Richarlison, they have found another reliable route to goal.

The forward fired home the Selecao’s first two goals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with his second acrobatic effort against Serbia a thing of beauty. 

Richarlison has been in and around the Brazil team for some time now but looks ready to become a superstar in his own right.

Richarlison life story

Richarlison was born and raised in Brazil and didn’t make his professional senior football debut until the age of 18 in 2015. 

Once he did to take the field, however, his rise was a swift one as he earned a move to the Premier League in 2017, joining Watford, and made his senior Brazil debut in 2018. 

How old is Richarlison?

As of the 2022 World Cup, Richarlison is 25 years old having been born on May 10, 1997 in the Brazilian region of Nova Venecia. 

Who does Richarlison play for?

Richarlison plays in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur after securing a transfer from Everton in the summer. 

The forward had spent four seasons with the Toffees, whom he joined after a single season with Watford in 2017/18. 

Prior to that, Richarlison played in Brazil for Fluminense and America Mineiro. 

Why does Richarlison always look angry? 

While some footballers play with a smile, Richarlison often plays the game with an angry look on his face as he furiously searches for goals. 

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is a big fan of the forward’s mentality on the pitch, saying in September 2022: “He’s a warrior, a fighter. We need this type of player.”

Richarlison tattoos 

Despite being tattoo-free just a few years ago, Richarlison has since got quite a bit of ink.

Along his neck are the words, “He’s Brazilian”, which was part of a chant Everton fans used to sing for him.

He has also recently got tattoos all along his left arm, which include the likes of Donald Duck, the Tasmanian Devil, Wile E. Coyote and Dragon Ball Z character Goku. 

Richarlison girlfriend: Reported link with singer Anitta 

It’s unclear if Richarlison is dating anyone, but he previously revealed his interest in Brazilian pop star Anitta and joked a World Cup win would help him win her over.

Influencer Cat Dantas jokingly said on Instagram that the player was her “future fiance” following his performance against Serbia.

Richarlison is the oldest of five children and grew up in relative poverty in Brazil.

Richarlison currently wears the No.9 jersey for Brazil, which was famously worn by double World Cup winner Ronaldo.

The forward also dons the same number at club level with Tottenham. 

At Everton, Richarlison wore the No.7 shirt for three seasons — a number he also briefly wore for Brazil.

Richarlison salary, contract

Richarlison’s contract with Tottenham runs until 2027 with The Sun reporting he’s earning £133,779 ($165,000) per week across the 2022/23 season.
