Players suspended for 2022 FIFA World Cup final: Latest updates on disciplinary action ahead of title match

France meet Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final, with coaches Didier Deschamps and Lionel Scaloni facing some selection decisions for the showpiece.

Thankfully, though, having to deal with suspended players is not among them.

FIFA updated their rules for the 2022 tournament to reduce the chances of a player missing the final through yellow card accumulation in the semifinals.

As both sides avoided a red card in their final-four games, up against Morocco and Croatia respectively, Deschamps and Scaloni should have a full roster available to them.

Injury concerns will play a role in their selection calls ahead of the title decider, but there will be no missing players through suspensions.

FIFA World Cup suspension rules at Qatar 2022

FIFA opted to amend their rules regarding yellow card suspensions ahead of the 2022 World Cup, with France and Argentina both benefitting from the switch.

The new laws confirmed that yellow cards received in two separate group, Round of 16 and quarterfinal games would result in a one-game ban for the following match.

All yellow cards were removed from the potential suspension list after the quarterfinal stage, with Argentina duo Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuna both missing the semifinal win over Croatia after being caution in the quarterfinal against the Netherlands.

With the yellow cards effectively removed after the last-eight stage, Cristian Romero and Nicolas Otamendi’s cautions against Croatia do not alter their final chances, with no red card issued to either team in their last-four matches.
