Jets quarterback Mike White was headed to a Buffalo hospital Sunday after absorbing a vicious hit by Bills linebacker Matt Milano — his second injury in the AFC East matchup.
White, who has taken over as New York’s starter following the benching of Zach Wilson, exited the game briefly in the third quarter. He returned in the fourth to lead a Jets comeback attempt. New York lost 20-12.
White also left the game in the second quarter after taking a hit to the rib area.

Jets coach Robert Saleh later told reporters that White, who completed 27 of 44 passes for 268 yards, was headed to the hospital as a “precautionary” measure.

Who is the Jets’ backup QB?
White got the start vs. the Bills on Sunday, his third in as many weeks. He took over for Wilson, who was benched following his poor play in a 10-3 loss to the Patriots, after which he said he did not feel he let his defense down.
White’s primary backup, for the moment, is Flacco. He is 1-2 in three starts this season, completing 92 of 158 passes (58.7 percent) for 902 yards and five touchdowns to three interceptions through Sunday’s game.
Wilson remains the Jets’ third option behind White and Flacco.
