Matildas vs. Thailand: Time, TV channel, live stream, squads, lineups and team news as Australia look to build on Sweden win

The Matildas will be out to end 2022 on a high against Thailand on Tuesday night in Gosford.

Australia claimed a memorable 4-0 win over world number two Sweden on Saturday in Melbourne in the most encouraging sign yet that they can be Women’s World Cup contenders in 2023.

The Matildas have now won their past three games and also kept just their second clean sheet of the year against Sweden.

Tony Gustavsson’s side will be full of confidence as they take on a Thailand side that lost 3-0 to the Philippines in their last match.

Prior to that, Miyo Okamoto’s team had won five straight games and will take part in the 2023 Women’s World Cup playoffs next February.

Matildas team news

This Matildas’ 24-player squad predominantly features players plying their careers abroad, with only three A-League Women’s players – Larissa Crummer, Cortnee Vine and Jada Whyman.

As predicted, Gustavsson picked a strong lineup for the match against world number two Sweden.

Australia may opt to give a few fringe players a chance to shine in a match they are expected to win comfortably.

Predicted Australia line-up (4-4-2): Whyman – Catley, Grant, McNamara, Nevin – Foord, Van Egmond, Logarzo, Vine – Fowler, Kerr.

Matildas vs. Thailand preview and prediction

It’s hard seeing anything other than a Matildas win in this match – particularly after their recent 4-0 demolition of Sweden.

Australia have now won three straight games and seem to have finally found their feet under coach Gustavsson.

While Thailand have improved in recent years, the Matildas should still prove too strong across the pitch.

They’ll be hoping to click once again in the final third and keep another much-needed clean sheet.

A few tweaks to Australia’s starting side may save Thailand from this being too one-sided.

Prediction: Matildas to win 3-0
