The second World Cup semifinal throws up an intriguing matchup, with the now favourites to win, France, coming up against the ultimate fairytale story in Morocco.
France were arguably outplayed for portions of their quarterfinal win over England, but record goalscorer Olivier Giroud scored at a crucial moment to secure a 2-1 win over their European rivals.
Morocco, meanwhile, continued their amazing World Cup run, defeating Portugal 1-0 to become the first-ever African side to reach the semifinals. They have now defeated all of Belgium, Spain and Portugal on their giantkilling run.
Their defence has been fantastic, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou keeping another clean sheet and getting another man of the match award against Portugal. They have only conceded an own goal at the World Cup, and just one goal in their last nine internationals.
The reigning champions France and their star-studded attack of Giroud, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann will pose the sternest threat yet to the Atlas Lions’ defence.
