Arguably the biggest match of the World Cup so far will take place in the quarterfinals, as England and France clash for a place in the semifinals of Qatar 2022.

Both sides were viewed as favourites to make a deep run at the tournament, and both have delivered on that promise so far, with some phenomenal attacking play at times getting fans and pundits alike very excited about their prospects

England took a while to get going in their Round of 16 clash against Senegal — a theme of their tournament so far — but once they did they despatched of the African side with ease, winning 3-0 with 19-year-old Jude Bellingham putting on a stellar performance and captain Harry Kane getting his first goal of the tournament.

France have also been very strong going forward, with Olivier Giroud becoming the all-time top French goalscorer, whilst Kylian Mbappe scored a wonderful double in their last match against Poland. Whilst they did lose their last group game against Tunisia, they had made nine changes for that match, and when they play their strongest side they are one of the most fearsome in the tournament.

Whilst both teams have got momentum coming into this one, this is their first real big test against a fellow World Cup side, which makes this one difficult to predict. France’s defence at times has had its nervy moments, whilst England will need to avoid another slow start against a side that will definitely punish them for any impotency on the pitch.
