The Titans and Knights have completed a player swap which will see hooker Chris Randall head to the Gold Coast and outside back Greg Marzhew go the other way.
Randall, who turns 27 next month, will join former Rooster Sam Verrills in bolstering the Titans’ dummy half stocks for 2023.
The Newcastle junior departs the Hunter after 29 first-grade appearances since making his debut in 2020.
Titans coach Justin Holbrook spoke about the new addition on Wednesday.
“Chris is a hard worker, who has shown what he can do when given the opportunity at NRL level,” Holbrook said.
“Alongside Sam Verrills, Chris adds plenty of depth to the hooking position, which also frees up other players to focus on other roles.”
Gold Coast also confirmed the departure of barnstorming winger Marzhew.
The 25-year-old made 25 appearances for the Titans over the past two seasons, crossing for 15 tries.
Marzhew joins a host of other new faces at the Knights, including Jackson Hastings, Adam Elliott, Jack Hetherington and Tyson Gamble.
The New Zealand-born man-mountain will be eyeing off the wing position made vacant by the departure of Edrick Lee to the Dolphins.
Holbrook paid tribute to Marzhew upon the announcement of the swap.
“I also want to thank Greg for his time at the Titans,” Holbrook said.
“We were able to give Greg his NRL debut here on the Coast and he has gone on to play 25 games for the club.
“The move gives both players a chance to play more NRL games and it’s exciting for both Greg and Chris heading into 2023.
“I wish Greg and his family well as they take up this opportunity with the Knights.”
More to come.
