Ecuador vs. Senegal live: World Cup score, highlights, result from 2022 Group A match

Ecuador and Senegal will be facing off in their Group A finale with the winner clinching a berth in the Round of 16.

A draw would also see Ecuador go through, though that would complicate matters for Senegal, who would need to hope Qatar somehow beats the Netherlands in the other Group A match.

Both teams have had strong showings in the group stage thus far with Ecuador winning the inaugural match against Qatar and drawing European power Netherlands 1-1. Forward Enner Valencia has scored all three of Ecuador’s goals and sits atop the scoring table.

African champions Senegal are playing without injured captain Sadio Mane, but they still played the Netherlands close in their opener, conceding two late goals to drop their opener. But they recovered nicely against Qatar for a 3-1 win that puts them in contention for a spot in the knockouts.

Ecuador vs. Senegal lineups, team news

Ecuador have a major injury doubt over captain and talisman Valencia with the veteran striker forced off in both of their games in Qatar.

If he is passed fit, Gustavo Alfaro is set to stick largely with the same XI that drew with the Dutch, including Brighton & Hove Albion duo Pervis Estupinan and Moises Caicedo. However, midfielder Jhegson Sebastian Mendez is suspended.

Ecuador projected starting lineup (3-4-3, right to left): 1. Galindez — 25. Porozo, 2. Torres, 3. Hincapie — 17. Preciado, 8. Gruezo, 23. Caicedo, 7. Estupinan — 19. Plata, 11. Estrada, 13. Valencia

Senegal head coach Aliou Cisse is still likely to be without Cheikhou Kouyate through injury, but Abdou Diallo came through unscathed against Qatar, and Pape Abou Cisse is back in the squad.

Senegal projected starting lineup (4-4-2, right to left): 16. E. Mendy —21. Sabaly, 3. Koulibaly, 22. Diallo, 14. Jakobs — 18. I. Sarr, 6. N. Mendy, 5. Gueye, 15. Diatta — 9. Dia, 19. Deidhiou
