When and where is the Cup of Nations 2023?
The 2023 edition of the Cup of Nations will take place between February 16 – 22.
There will be a two-day break between each match day (see below for a full schedule).
This year’s tournament will be held across three cities in New South Wales – Gosford (Industree Group Stadium), Sydney (CommBank Stadium) and Newcastle (McDonald Jones Stadium).
Cup of Nations 2023 teams and format
The Cup of Nations is an invitational women’s football tournament, held in a round-robin format.
Football Australia have organised the event again this year, inviting the Czech Republic, Spain and Jamaica to compete alongside the Matildas.
Australia’s coach Tony Gustavsson explained the Matildas’ international opponents were chosen with World Cup preparation in mind.
“Spain, Czechia and Jamaica have been carefully selected for the Cup of Nations to ensure we have the right preparation heading into the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” Gustavsson said.
“Not only are all three nations filled with quality, but they also provide a difference in playing style and approach with the three-match days aiming to mirror tournament group play to the best of our ability.”
Each nation will play each other once, with a standard scoring system (three points for a win, one for a draw) to be used.
The team atop the table after the three match days will be named champions.
