The New York Jets have hired former Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett as their new offensive coordinator, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday.
The team later announced the news, along with the hire of Keith Carter as offensive line coach and run game coordinator.
Hackett was hired by Denver last offseason, but did not last the full 2022 season before being fired by the Broncos. He had previously held offensive coordinator positions with the Bills, Jaguars and Packers before taking the Denver job.
Hackett was one of about 15 coaches interviewed for the Jets’ OC position, and was their top choice for the last week, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Rapoport added that it came down to whether Hackett wanted to return to coaching immediately, and in the end he has accepted a new role in Gang Green’s offense.
Around the NFL will have more shortly.
