Sydney train users warned to plan ahead to avoid chaos this weekend

Train users have been warned to prepare for a series of disruptions and cancellations in Sydney this weekend as industrial action continues.

A reduced timetable will run on all lines and there will be no train services operating on the T5 Cumberland line between Richmond and Leppington.

The disruptions are due to safety critical track work combined with working restrictions.

Regional train customers should also be prepared for reduced intercity services between Sydney and the Blue Mountains, South Coast, and the Central Coast and Newcastle.

People have been urged to plan ahead, allow extra time and consider alternative transport if possible.

DISRUPTIONS BY LINE:

T1 North Shore Line

Trains run between Berowra or Lindfield and the city to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

If you are travelling to T9 Northern Line stations you will need to change trains.

T1 Western Line

Trains run between Penrith or Richmond and the city to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

Saturday from 4pm until 12.30am, trains make an extra stop at Olympic Park.

T2 Inner West & Leppington

Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Fairfield.

Trains run between Fairfield and the city via Granville, stopping all stations between Homebush and Central, to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

Trains also run between Leppington and the city via the T8 Airport and South Line.

Saturday from 10.30pm until 12.30am, trains make an extra stop at Olympic Park.

Bus routes:

  • 26T2 Fairfield, Cabramatta, Liverpool, Glenfield, Ingleburn, Minto, Campbelltown, then Macarthur and return;
  • 79T2 Fairfield, then all stations to Macarthur and return;
  • 80T2 Fairfield, then all stations to Liverpool and return.

T3 Bankstown Line

From 11pm Friday, buses replace trains between Liverpool and Bankstown.

Trains run to a changed timetable between Lidcombe and the city via Sydenham.

Bus routes:

  • 4T3 Liverpool, then all stations to Bankstown and return; and
  • 4AT3 Liverpool, Cabramatta, then Bankstown and return.

T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

Trains run between Cronulla or Waterfall and Bondi Junction to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

T5 Cumberland Line

T5 Cumberland Line trains will not run. Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Fairfield.

Trains run between Leppington and Glenfield, Fairfield and Granville, and between Granville and Richmond, to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

You may need to change services.

  • 26T2 Fairfield, Cabramatta, Liverpool, Glenfield, Ingleburn, Minto, Campbelltown, then Macarthur and return;
  • 79T2 Fairfield, then all stations to Macarthur and return; and
  • 80T2 Fairfield, then all stations to Liverpool and return.

T8 Airport and South Line

Buses replace trains between Macarthur and Glenfield, then continue to Fairfield.

Trains run between Leppington and the city via the airport to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

Bus routes:

  • 26T2 Fairfield, Cabramatta, Liverpool, Glenfield, Ingleburn, Minto, Campbelltown, then Macarthur and return; and
  • 79T2 Fairfield, then all stations to Macarthur and return.

T9 Northern Line

Trains run between Hornsby or Epping and the City Circle to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

If you are travelling to T1 North Shore Line stations you will need to change trains.

Blue Mountains Line

Trains run between Lithgow or Mount Victoria and Blacktown only, to a reduced frequency and changed timetable. Change trains at Blacktown to continue your journey.

Bathurst trains continue to run between Bathurst and Central, to the normal timetable.

Central Coast and Newcastle Line

Trains run between Newcastle Interchange and Strathfield only, to a reduced frequency and changed timetable. Change trains at Strathfield.

South Coast Line

Trains run between Kiama and Bondi Junction, and between Port Kembla and Thirroul, to a reduced frequency and changed timetable.

Trains between Bomaderry and Kiama run to the normal timetable.
