Costeen Hatzi, the girlfriend of Nick Kyrgios has revealed she was rushed to hospital suffering from a serious illness while in Mexico.

The couple were in Mexico City for the Tennis Showdown exhibition event last month when the popular cosmetics influencer began to feel unwell.

She has now revealed to her Instagram followers she was admitted to a hospital ward with a kidney infection and described the situation as “scary”.

Hatzi published a picture of herself in a hospital bed with a concerned Kyrgios by her side.

In an Instagram Q&A, Hatzi said: “I was so sick in hospital I didn’t get to see much of Mexico.

“I had a fever on the flight & ended up going straight to emergency when we landed. I had a kidney infection.

“Luckily the tennis association & hospital staff were so extremely caring & helpful. But it was a little scary being so sick in a whole different country. The tacos were amazing though.”

The revealing forum also suggested the pair will continue to be side by side as the Aussie tennis star travels the globe in 2023.

Kyrgios has previously said he wants to pay for Hatzi to travel with him on a full-time basis — and that’s what looks like happening.

“Now I do influencing/content creation as a full time job,” she said, having finished a university degree last year.

“It has been the most rewarding & enjoyable job I’ve had. Met so many amazing people & worked with so many cool brands. I always wanted to pursue my career in psych but the travelling has kind of hindered that for me.

“Maybe in the future I will come back to that but my job now is flexible & I can work from anywhere in the world.”

She is also going to be able to enjoy some quality time in Paris next year with Kyrgios announcing this week he is determined to play at the French Open next year.

Kyrgios has skipped the French Open for the past five seasons despite making the third round of the tournament twice, preferring to focus on his strength on the grass court season.

He has previously called the French Open “the worst grand slam” and called for it to be “taken off the calendar altogether”.

But the 27-year-old is still planning to end the self-imposed exile from the event for the 2023 season to take his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi to the city of love.

Kyrgios has openly spoken about his hatred of playing on clay but will make an exception for his partner.

“My girlfriend wants to know Paris, so I’m going to play at Roland Garros 2023,” the Wimbledon finalist said.

“It will be good for me to earn some more money, although I would have preferred to stay at home.

“I know I can do great results on clay. I beat Roger (Federer), (Stan) Wawrinka, I played a final in Estoril.

“My girl wants to get to know the city so I will have to go this year.

“I’ve said it many times and I’m saying it again now. There are too many clay-court tournaments on the calendar. I see guys in the top-100 that I don’t even know, I wouldn’t recognise them if I crossed them on the street, and they’re there only because of the clay tournaments. I think it’s crazy.”

Kyrgios had a brilliant season, winning the Australian Open doubles alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis, making the Wimbledon final and claiming the singles and doubles at the Citi Open in Washington.

Kyrgios has been loved up with his 21-year-old girlfriend Hatzi, saying earlier in the year a wedding would happen “very soon” when he reveal a tattoo of her name.

He also hinted at baby plans in the future.
