A curved hillside mansion with breathtaking views of Adelaide has hit the market for the first time.

The four-bedroom Mount Osmond home at 9 Mountainview Place was built by prominent South Australian architect Max Pritchard in 1998 and has only been owned by two families – but not for much longer.

Les and Sue Mann have put their beloved home of almost 20 years on the market, only because another opportunity to buy a rare property has come up.

“It’s with regret that we’re letting it go but you’ve got to move on in life sometimes,” Mr Mann said.

“We’ve lived there for 19 years but we’ve lived at Mount Osmond for close to 30 years.”

The couple bought the property directly from their neighbours and friends, who built it then lived in it for a few years before moving interstate.

Its unique design, stunning 270 degree views of Adelaide and quality craftsmanship were the main attractions for the Manns.

“We lived three doors away and watched the property being built,” Mr Mann said.

“The quality of the build is just amazing and it’s a lovely home to entertain in.

“In the 19 years we’ve lived there, not once was I bored of the view.”

The split-level house is on a 2769sq m block and is flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of its sweeping north-facing vistas.

In addition to its four bedrooms, the home has a study, a library and a family room, with an open kitchen, living and dining room at its centre.

There is also a central courtyard with a pond and water feature, a gym and a triple garage.

Mr Mann said they hadn’t changed the property and took extra care maintaining it over the years so hoped the new owners would do the same.

“I’d be really disappointed if someone came in and ripped out all the tiling,” he said.

Tanner Real Estate principal Simon Tanner, who is selling the property with Bec Tanner and Bec Parker, said it was “one of the most unique in the area”.

“It’s a really interesting, unique, bespoke home where you can move in and enjoy it now, but also put your pool in to capture those views even more if desired,” he said.

“The views are really amazing.

“The house has been well looked after for 25 years, it’s stood the test of time.”

Mr Tanner said it was already attracting strong interest from a range of househunters, including those living in the area.

The property is listed without a price tag.
