A man has died in the hands of emergency services after a scuffle broke out in Melbourne’s northern suburbs on Wednesday afternoon.
Victoria Police said a man was confronted by residents on Hothlyn Drive, Craigieburn, about 2.30pm after he was observed trying to break into a car.
Police said a “short scuffle” ensued before emergency services arrived at the scene and police arrested the man; however, he quickly “become unresponsive” and died while he was in the hands of ambulance crews on Hothlyn Drive.
Police said two men were in custody and assisting police.
Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to Hothlyn Drive shortly before 3pm but declined to provide any further details.
Homicide squad detectives are investigating.
