Late 7-Eleven co-owner Beverley Barlow’s mansion at 39 Seacombe Grove, Brighton, is located right on the beach. A former owner hired Jimmy Barnes to perform at the home for their birthday celebrations.

A “grand” beachfront Brighton estate owned by late 7-Eleven co-owner Beverley Barlow’s family is set to make waves with a $30m-$33m asking range.

Ms Barlow, who died in 2017, owned half the Australian business along with her husband Doug and brother Russ Whithers.

Their family was worth an estimated $700m when she passed.

Ms Barlow set a Brighton house price record when she purchased 39 Seacombe Grove for $22m in 2015, with the suburb’s current record is held by 27-29 Kent Ave, which fetched $25m last year.

The Seacombe Grove 18-room mansion was previously owned by former St Kilda Football Club president Rod Butterss.

Buxton Brighton director David Hart declined to comment on the vendors but the Herald Sun understands Ms Barlow’s family is selling the home.

Mr Hart said the abode was the only home on Brighton’s “Golden Mile” – which stretches from Head St to Brighton Yacht Club – to have complete 180-degree views from Middle Brighton pier to Melbourne’s city skyline.

The four-level, 2000sq m mansion boasts a formal dining room set below a domed pressed metal ceiling, two lifts, library, self-contained fourth-floor apartment, four bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

A conservatory and music room look over a heated infinity pool and spa, while the gym opens directly onto the beach’s walking and cycling trail.

“It’s a very elegant house of such vast proportions but there is a very warm feel about it,” Mr Hart said.

Previous owners “fundamentally rebuilt” the mansion in the early 2000s.

“They imported a lot of materials inside the house from Europe, like doors and balustrades from Italy,” Mr Hart said.

“I also know one of the previous owners had Jimmy Barnes play there for a birthday.”

The basement includes a Gold Class home cinema, bar, separate wine lounge plus cellar and 12-car garage with workshop and washing bay.

Mr Hart described the mansion as one of Melbourne’s “most exclusive” homes.

“This isn’t just a block of land, it’s a grand family resident and an estate that’s done, ready to move into and enjoy from day one,” he said.

Expressions of interest close at 5pm on November 21.

The 1727sq m block at 23 Seacombe Grove has also just sold off market for $22m.

Marshall White Bayside director Matthew Pillios is understood to have done the deal, but would not comment.
