Project Overview:

Toshiba's Christmas Cards Around the Web is an international internet project for school students. Students can create their own Multimedia Christmas or Holiday Greetings Card to send via the World Wide Web.

The Multimedia Christmas Card can contain any number of multimedia elements such as image, sound, music, video, animation and interactivity, but must convey a Christmas feel. Any aspect of Christmas can be used as inspiration for the project, from Christmas trees to the concept of giving.

The Multimedia Holiday Greetings Card can contain any number of multimedia elements such as image, sound, music, video, animation and interactivity. Any aspect of holidays, vacations, and relaxing can be used as inspiration for the project.

The 12 multimedia cards judged to be the best by a combination of peer and official judging will be placed on a Send-A-Card site. Anyone may use this site to select and send an electronic Christmas or Holiday Greetings Card and personal message around the world.

Who can be involved?

School students aged 5 to 18 can participate. Entries can come from individual students or groups. As this is an educational project all entrants must have the endorsement of their school.

There are 2 Categories- Primary and High School

Category 1: 5 to 12 years. (primary)
Category 2: 12 to 18 years. (high school students)
There is an overlap in age to allow 12 year olds to enter the category relative to their schooling.

Why get involved?

  • productively engage students in meaningful web publishing projects thereby promoting the development of communication, design and computing skills and collaborative learning.
  • provide an interesting and 'fun' activity for students to which they can apply a range of skills.
